Tiger the tortoise rescued from the rough

A tortoise that has been nicknamed Tiger has found himself in the rough on a Glasgow golf course after he set out in search of a female companion.

A golfer searching for a lost ball discovered the creature at Littlehill Golf Club in the Sprinburn area of the north of the city on Sunday June 20.

He took the male Horsefield tortoise home to his daughter, who contacted the Scottish SPCA for help.

Nicknamed Tiger, the charity believes the tortoise, aged between 20 and 30 years old, had escaped from home in search of a lady friend. He is now being cared for at the Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald.
