Turtle, tortoise caretaker: Magalia man wants to bring public up to speed on plight of turtles, tortoises

Some folks are dog lovers; some people give their hearts to their cats. A Magalia man is dedicated to turtles and tortoises.

He’s caring for about 30 of them in his grassy yard with some in wooden pens and several larger ones that are free-roaming, munching their way across the landscape.

Michael Thathuvaswamy has started a Ridge branch of the Sacramento Turtle and Tortoise Club. His goal is to educate the public about these shelled reptiles and their need to be cared for by people who understand the nature of turtles.
