Iowa, USA: Party crasher captured, released

A birthday party in the 100 block of South First Street had a surprise guest Saturday.

A four-foot long bullsnake, initially mistaken for a timber rattlesnake by some guests, added some excitement to an already eventful day.

Council Bluffs Police were dispatched to the residence at 4:30 p.m. after reports of a rattlesnake in the back yard. As officers arrived on the scene, the snake had already been corralled.

James Hanish said the snake crawled out from underneath his deck and was discovered by his dogs in the weeds.
