AUSTRALIA: Death adder found in Umina Beach backyard

Jan Peck was horrified to find what she believes to be a death adder in the yard of her Umina Beach home this week.

“My daughter actually spotted the snake and called me,” Ms Peck said.

“We contacted my son, who knows a good deal about snakes, and he came over and identified it as a death adder,” Ms Peck said.

“We were unable to get verification from the Australian Reptile Park but we have looked up all the books and it definitely fits the description.

“I have lived here for 10 years and have never seen a snake – let alone one as dangerous as this.
