Pet Reptiles Rescued From House Fire

Firefighters rescued a number snakes and other reptiles from a house fire, but a cat living inside did not make it out alive.

Investigators said the fire started in the living room area of a home on the 700 block of Espanola Way after the homeowner left on an errand around 8 a.m. Thursday.

The man’s daughter, who was home on spring break, was able to get out safely.

Firefighters also pulled three snakes, a bearded dragon and two leopard geckos from the home. Their cages were covered in soot.

Neighbors praised firefighters for their quick response.
