Mote's hospital is hosting four times as many turtles this season as it did last season

Mote Marine Laboratory is set up to host up to 10 turtles at one time in its turtle hospital. But during this unusually frigid season it has taken in 50 turtles from all over Florida.

Oreo is one of the cold-stunned green sea turtles rescued from the cold ocean water in Charlotte County back in January. He was nearly dead from the cold weather when he was brought to the turtle hospital.

On Wednesday, Oreo flipped through the water tank at the turtle hospital and poked his head up out of the water to try to see what was on the other side of large holding tank.

On Thursday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission picked Oreo up from Mote and took him back to the place he was found to continue his life as a sea turtle. He’s one lucky guy.
