Hartleys' crocodiles smitten by love

The Hugh Hefner of Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is in love.

Ted, the 800kg grandfather croc who inhabits the lagoon at the crocodile farm north of Cairns, has taken to a particular female saltie with the kind of adoration that would make Casanova turn green with envy.

It is an unusual pairing, especially for the 5.5m Ted, which is the largest crocodile in the park and could have any, or all, of the females in the lagoon.

The 80-year-old Ted was caught near Cooktown in the 1990s and brought to the park for breeding.

The 2m-long Shop Girl, which was born and raised at the farm, met her “man” two years ago.
