Snakes at the Canadian border … Yikes!

A Canadian man has been given two years probation after pleading guilty to smuggling 35 rattlesnakes into the United States across the Lewiston-Queenston bridge.

Along with the snakes, the man was trying to sneak a spotted turtle into the country too. All of the critters are protected wildlife, so smuggling them is a big no-no.

Emanuele Tesoro, 43, of Waterdown, Ont., was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge William Skretny, U.S. Attorney Kathleen Mehltretter announced.
